Late this afternoon, Chrysler filed paperwork for an initial public offering. The move sets in motion a process to value the remaining 41% of the automaker that’s owned by a United Auto Workers health care trust; Italy’s Fiat owns the remaining 59% of the Auburn Hills, Mich., automaker.
What does this mean for consumers? Right now, not much. It’s unclear how much of the union trust shares will go into the IPO. Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne has been trying to merge Chrysler and Fiat into a single automaker for some time, and CNBC reports that the IPO should help move the process along; Bloomberg News, however, reports that the move will complicate Fiat’s efforts to merge the two.
We’ll report more details as we get them.

Nonetheless, UCLA Anderson Forecast economists expect the state’s economy to continue growing, albeit slowly. California’s unemployment rate, currently at 8.7%, is expected to fall to 8.5% by the end of this year. By the end of 2014, UCLA projects, it will fall to 7.4%, eventually dropping to 6.7% by the end of 2015. Nonfarm payroll growth is expected to be 1.6% by the end of the year, only slightly faster than the U.S.

“The plane’s mission has evolved a lot further than its initial design,” Steele said. The Air Force stopped ordering C-17s in 2006. Since then, Congress added last-minute appropriations for more planes to keep the plant rolling. Again and again, lawmakers came to the program’s rescue, partly because it supports roughly 30,000 supplier jobs in 44 states. In 2010, lawmakers set aside funding for 10 new planes. That year, then-Defense Secretary Robert M.

Joey and Gerard’s Mount Washington hillside home is a wonderful mix of vintage elements and colors with a little French countryside charm. The couple completely renovated the kitchen, top to bottom, but the redo is very much in keeping with the vintage styling of the rest of their home.
From the starburst floor tiles to the white tiled countertop, from the blond cabinetry to the vintage lighting, this gorgeous kitchen has a lot of “soul,” as one reader commented in the full House Tour . It’s unusual to see a kitchen renovation stay so true to its vintage roots, so props to Joey and Gerard!
I really love the floor tiles, particularly against the rich wood table. And what a view outside those windows!

Simple grilled fish or even steak. It would work really well with Emily’s recent recipe for Polenta Tart with Roasted Cherry Tomatoes as well as Faith’s Mini Lamb Burgers on Roasted Potato Rounds . About Etude and this 2012 Rosé of Pinot Noir: Etude Wines, located in Carneros, the famed AVA that straddles Napa and Sonoma counties, was founded 25 years ago, on the philosophy that great wine is made in the vineyard, not the winery. Etude is a Napa Green Certified Winery. The grapes for this delicious rosé are all from Etude’s estate vineyards – notably the Grace Benoist Ranch. Handpicked at night to retain acidity, the grapes were whole cluster pressed for finesse, then fermented and aged in old oak barrel before bottling, to create a more structure driven style of rosé.

Coworkers Nationwide Embrace Tearfully After Painful 3-Day Separation
‘Hallelujah, God Is Good!’ Reunited Employees Cry
WASHINGTON—With tears of relief streaming down their faces, coworkers around the nation wrapped one another in jubilant embraces Tuesday to celebrate the blessed end of their Labor Day weekend separation, sources confirmed. “I missed you so much! Thank God we’re back together again!” employees across the United States reportedly said to one another between whoops of joy, all while lifting each other up in emotional bear hugs. “Worst three days of my life! It felt like months. The only thing I thought about the whole time—while I was sleeping in and having backyard cookouts—was your faces and how much I missed them. You guys are the best! I love you so much.” At press time, American colleagues were hanging on each other’s words as they recounted their weekend activities.

Caught a limit of blues to add to the smoker this weekend. On Monday I saw a bunch of fish on my fish finder and hoped they were blues or stripers. Decided to try jigging them up. Had a good breeze and it was a bit rough but after several tries to get the right weight and float I ended up catching one.
